Hi! I'm a make up artist in the Philippines and I do mostly weddings. I learned through assisting, little training and mostly on hands-on experience and
self taught research. I've been doing make up for almost 4 years now, and have discovered make up tips and tricks on my own, yet I still feel that I have
MUCH MUCH to learn given that I did not have any proper training or attended any classes or schools. I am looking forward to learning more stuff that I have
missed from this thread/forum and for everybody's constructive criticisms on my work which I'll also be posting soon.

Hi! I've been reading posts for years and I guess I should introduce myself! I'm Veronica, I've been an esthetician for 5 years, and I live in
Canada. I still have a lot of practicing to do to build a portfolio but in the meantime I love reading the board as it's been a wealth of information. I
did take a short makeup program years ago which was great, and I'm also finishing my bachelor's degree in science so I've been occupied with that.
I love all areas of makeup and I especially love doing special effects, and I would also love to get into film. This year I might take another four month
full-time makeup program taught by the head of the makeup dept of the union here (she is an expert in wigs, etc which I really suck at so I figure this could
be really good for me), and I would like to take Dick Smith's course afterwards (I would apply to take it now except I really have no idea how to make life
casts, it sounds way too complicated for me to learn through correspondence!). Next year I plan to take a program in hairstyling as well to add to my list of
skills- I figure I'll be a triple threat, hehe. Okay that about sums me up

Hi, I just posted for the first time so I thought I better introduce myself and come out of the lurker closet officially.
First of all... Big hellos to my fellow womp rats and a very big "thank you" to all of the amazing artists who share their expertise and their work here. As for me, I live and work in Los Angeles. I'm a bit older than the usual makeup school grad (okay, more than a bit) and very, very new to the field. And I feel goofy talking about myself, so I'm just gonna leave it at that |

Hello everyone! | #229 | ||

I'm Barbara...Barb, Barbie, Barbie-Ho (yes my best friends actually call me that)...whatever comes out of your mouth first, that's what I'll answer
to! I've been here for quite awhile...i actually have not been able to get on here for almost a year (i can't even believe that) but I am back now...
I still consider myself a newbie...i've been doing makeup for YEARS but i just can't seem to be able to jump into this full time..it's my dream and I know i'll get there..i just have to get up the nerve to leave the kids ( i run a daycare program and love the kids) and really dive into my other passion...my number one passion which is makeup. I love making other people look good! And i'm getting more and more interested in other aspects (character makeup, etc).... I'm open to comments and critiques..and as soon as I get some work it's coming up here to get just those... what else....oh! GO TO THE MAKEUP SHOW if you get the chance...it's the best thing i've ever been to EVER...loved every minute of it...i definately didn't have enough time to do what I wanted to do....hopefully this year i can take a class or two! |

Kia Ora! My name's Kirimoana and I'm from New Zealand. I'm a Makeup Artist who's wanting to branch out into FX and Body Painting. It's
pretty isolated here so I'm releshing being able to talk to like minded people. (Anyone else have strange thoughts of wanting to dump their kit out on the
bed and roll in it?...heeeeeeeeeeeee... Apart from the sanititary concerns of course) I'm always up for a chat and have loved making my way slowly through
the boards. I haven't posted until now because each question I had was answered using the search function, but I'm sure one day I'll make a thread
of my own. Look forward to seeing you all around the board!

Saying hello | #233 | ||
|
Hello and greetings all,
I am de-lurking here to introduce myself. My name is Kathy and I'm an aspiring makeup artist living in South Carolina. I attended Cosmetology school as a teen, in northern California, oh so many many years ago. I've stayed very interested in all aspects of beauty through out my life, and am looking forward to enrolling in aesthetician course to obtain that license, having let my license lag many years ago, I felt it best to obtain another and I need the brushup anyway. After that I most likely will seek a successful artist here locally that will permit me to learn from and assist him/her. I would like to eventually be able to do weddings and special events here locally and see where things go from there. So was that more info than was needed? LOL I have been digging through the invaluable information that has been shared here, and I have to say it has helped me to develop the above plan into what it is now, thank you all so very much for sharing your talent and knowledge with those of us coming up behind you. |

intro - Embracing Essence | #235 | ||

Hi I'm Vernita Dawkins, freelance makeup artist in the DCMDVA area for 3 years now (part time). Been a member of this board for 3 years.
Working full time but getting my business in order to move into makeup artistry full time by the end of 2010. I have to credit my husband, (Lonnie Dawkins
Photography) who started has freelance photography business 5 years ago full time and said "client are asking about makeup, so since you do
your own, can't you do their makeup as well"?. I thought about it , enrolled in Yvonne de Vilar for makeup artistry and got my
certification and license and have been loving it ever since. Just trying now to perfect my work so that I can do less TFP and start getting paid. We
(husband) collaborate when the opportunity arises. This board is awesome!!!

^^^ well they should wash their face and take care of their skin. And just because this is (most of ) our profession, that doesn't mean we wear or advocate
wearing makeup 24/7/365. Please don't come up in here with some silliness.
