I don't even bother to look at any of macs new color collections as it is all renaming temp products that they have come out with sometime in the past. Every launch is a dissapointment, and there is nothing new to look at from them anymore....Naturally eccentric is just blah blah so so and that image of the asian girl with glossy lids looks a bit diseased. Like she is recovering from pink eye or something...

MAC is great for MUA wannabees at this point. They made their choice to disregard the professional community IMO, when they became all consumer geared and corporate. Away from their past history for being about the artists and individuals in favor of being over distributed next to every Lancome counter and the quality started dropping severly. I think it is a bit late for them to attempt to redeem their reputation as to what they once stood for in the industry.


With the exception of Smolder, Carbon, and a handful of MAC paints, cream color base and clear lipglass and Fast Response eye cream...I can pass on everything else....To me, those are the only things that I will consider going into a MAC location to buy...Again, this is just my opinion, as I am sure there are many out there who will argue with me and think that they are more bomb diggity than ever....

Sorry I am late on this one. This is the situation, and this is how it goes....We all know that MAC has gone extremely corporate. I will use the example of Fashion Week. MAC has taken over shows by being a sponsor for every fashion week. That means that they sponsor the particular show. The house chooses a key, and then that key (who 80% of the time is agency repped) has no choice but to use the MAC Pro team. They are not guaranteed of the level of talent being that MAC now hires anyone. It is really good as it strokes the 'I get to play real makeup artist for once in my life, and dont have to be behind a counter' feel. The pro team at this point is made up of Sr. Artists, Trainers and Resident Trainers; the same people that do events at the stores....Almost all of these artists do not have books as when MAC sends them to do a job, it is credited...XYZ for MAC and their PR dept. collects either the tears or reels to promote the company...not the artists.

Oh, sorry, off on a tangent I was, lol. But, most people on the pro team are salaried employees of MAC, unless they are an outside freelancer that liasons with them. THEY DO NOT GET PAID for these shows as MAC gets over by saying it is in their 'job description'. Hence people, this is why many people who work with them at that level, never leave the company. You step out on nothing, and have nothing to show for it, so why start over. MAC stokes your ego enuff to make it feel like its the real thing. Most havent a clue of a day rate, half rate, spec, or any other industry lingo. It even got to the point, where designers would call up the PR dept. of MAC and have an artist come out and do their makeup for no pay....as, they were already supporters of MAC and did not feel the need to 'pay for services'. Let's not even get into the oh, someones friend in corporate is getting married and they need an artist...again, noone is paid....

Now you see why I keep saying MAC is about MAC and not about the artist. Those who choose to support them in any way shape or form have fallen and bumped their heads, IMO. Oh, Bumble and Bumble hair team works the same way...as they are owned by Mama Blue too!

Just an FYI, the fashion show rate for freelancers is now $30/hr. max$200 show if you are working on a show with MAC. Thanks to them, they have pushed rates down even when you are hired thru an aagency....The average assistant rate used to be $600.....

Thats how its really going down.....
